Meet the Fiduciaries Behind the Firm

About Us: Our team has the know-how and the heart to help you.

About Us. Not everyone who manages money is a fiduciary. We are, though. That means we put your needs ahead of ours and we can prove it. We document our financial planning services so we can prove we’re acting in your best interest as custodians of your money.

We’re a product-agnostic, fee-based financial advisory firm. and as fiduciaries, we’re obligated to act in your best interests. And because we’re independent advisers, we can help you build a financial portfolio that reflects whatever level of risk you’re comfortable with when you’re investing. We’re here for you; contact us today to learn more about us.

I started in the insurance business in 2010 after staying home with our first daughter for a year. I began by helping seniors understand Medicare and purchase Medicare supplemental insurance. I began with Sterling Insurance as an agent and then was promoted to a field sales manager after 6 or 7 months. Sterling was bought right before I got there and then again while I was there. In mid 2012 started to see the company was not headed in the direction I wanted to move in. I was recruited into the independent insurance world. I took around 8 months to research the financial and retirement planning business. I was able to look at what products were best in what situations, with an unbiased approach. In 2013, I felt I could better serve my clients with a Series 65 securities license.

In March of 2014, I started Strategic Wealth Management, an insurance firm and I represented other RIA or investment firms to offer my clients investments. Strategic Wealth Management was started in Maryville, TN but after a year opened an office in Knoxville as well.

When I started in this business, it was tough starting out on your own as an independent firm without a large company name to lean on.  It was so hard I considered getting a regular job after my first year.  I couldn’t do this because I couldn’t let down the few clients that I did earn that year.  The following year was a great year and the rest has been great.

In early 2015, I was contacted by a firm to be the succession plan and eventually take over when the advisor/owner retires or passes away. In June of 2015 I moved my business into that office. I had a great experience working out of that office for over 3 years. After 3 years there, I decided that it was better to run my business at my own office.

In the fall of 2018, I decided to move out to my own office and run my businesses. Also, that fall I started my RIA firm Strategic Wealth Investments, LLC which went active in the state of Tennessee on January 1, 2019. On December 15th, Strategic Wealth Management, LLC and Strategic Wealth Investments, LLC moved to 338 Ebenezer Road Knoxville, TN 37923.

I married my wife, Courtney in 2007.  We met at UT in college and both enjoyed many trips to the mountains, studying together, and being with our friends.  We had our first daughter Anna Claire in 2009.  She enjoys training and showing hunter jumper horses and has recently start playing volleyball competitively.  Courtney and I had our 2nd daughter Audrey in 2012.  She enjoys horses as well and rides in many junior and semi-professional rodeos.  In 2020, we had our son Atlee Chase.  He keeps us on our toes and longing for sleep sometimes.

Courtney and I are both deacons at our church and enjoy many activities at the church.  I also serve on the board of Welcome House Knoxville, which is a local non – profit.  I have also mentored a little brother in Big Brother Big Sister since 2013 and he will graduated in 2022.

Courtney and I enjoy watching our kids succeed with their horses and watching Anna Claire play volleyball.  We like to travel together to the beach, the mountains, or to visit friends.

I find myself taking care of our farm in most of my free time now.  I like carpentry, saltwater fishing, hunting, and the occasional round of golf.
